A man has been arrested after a 62-year-old woman was hit by a car in Croydon last night.

Police were called to Roman Way on Thursday (May 16) just before 9.30pm after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Emergency services attended the scene and treated a 62 year-old woman.

The woman was taken to a near-by hospital where her injuries were confirmed to be non-life threatening or changing.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving; he remains in custody.

Investigations into the circumstances are on-going.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "On Thursday, 16 May police were called to Roman Way at 21:26hrs following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

"Officers attended the scene alongside other emergency services who treated a 62 year-old woman on scene.

"The woman was taken to a near-by hospital where her injuries were confirmed to be non-life threatening/changing.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, he remains in custody.

Enquiries into the circumstances are on-going."
